Manti-La Sal Moab/Monticello Ranger District enters Stage I Fire Restrictions

Dry conditions and little rain on the southern part of the Manti-La Sal National Forest have managers worried about human-caused fires. Fire managers have decided to implement Stage I fire restrictions on the Manti-La Sal National Forest, Moab and Monticello Ranger District beginning on July 12th at 12:01 a.m. and lasting until conditions improve significantly.

Stage I fire restrictions mean that open fire is not allowed outside designated Forest Service campgrounds with approved grate and grill structures installed. Open fire includes charcoal briquets and other fire devices that do not have an on/off switch.
Propane-fuelled and other stoves that are controlled with an on/off switch are allowed in dispersed camping areas.

Smoking will be allowed only in an enclosed vehicle or building.

Please continue to be careful with fire this season, and enjoy your national forests responsibly.

For further information, call the Moab/Monticello Ranger District at 435-259-7155.
