On July 9, 2014, a local resident was reported missing when she failed to show up at the library for a book review. The 78 year old female had last been seen 1:30 p.m. the previous day. She was known to frequent the area of the walk/bikepath at Courthouse Wash just North of the river bridge. Her vehicle was located in the parking lot at Courthouse Wash at approximately 9:00 p.m. Personnel from Arches National Park and Grand County Search and Rescue searched the area of the bikepath and surrounding areas including upper Courthouse Wash. She was found at approximately 11:00 p.m. about ¼ mile up the wash where she had become mired in quicksand. Subject stated she had become stuck at about 9:00 a.m. that morning(July 9,2014). Grand County EMS and rescue members assisted in transporting her to the parking area. She was in good condition at the time she was found.
