West Nile Virus (WNV) –

  • One New Positive WNV Sample in Mosquito Adults
  • Results from the five adult samples collected 20 August came back Friday, 23 August; one of the five samples tested positive for WNV from the Utah Public Health Laboratory in Salt Lake City.
  • The risk for becoming infected can be influenced by time spent outdoors and decisions on whether to adopt personal precautions against mosquito bites.
  • Please continue to protect yourselves with an EPA-approved mosquito repellent.

New Moab Mosquito Abatement District (MMAD) Communication Policy

  • The Moab Mosquito Abatement District is currently working on developing a Facebook page.
  • The Grand County website, www.grandcountyutah.net will continue to host these PSAs.
  • These PSAs will then be shared to Facebook for increased communications with the public.

Fogging

  • If/when we need to fog to control the vector mosquito flying population, this information will be posted on our Facebook page.
  • There, we will post the day, time of evening/night and planned fogging route.

Other

  • We have not received as many dead bird calls since our last PSA on 20 August.  Please continue to let us know if you find dead birds.
  • We have received, scouted and/or treated all of the standing water sources called into us.  Again, please let us know about standing water sources you may be concerned about.

Thank you.
