On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at approximately 3:00 p.m. there was a chemical spill at Moab Regional Hospital in a non-patient area. This chemical spill occurred during routine machine maintenance. It was a small spill and of a non-transmittable, non-biological nature. The spill consisted of common household cleaning supplies. The chemicals that spilled were Chlorine Bleach and an industrial, acidic laundry cleaner.
Moab Fire Department, Grand County Hazmat, Grand County Emergency Medical Service, Moab City Police Department and the Grand County Sheriff’s Office responded and contained the spill. 12 individuals were decontaminated for precautionary reasons. These individuals have all been released.
A clean-up crew has been contacted and is en route. All Moab Regional Hospital and Canyonlands Care Center patients and personnel are safe and secure.
At this time only essential personnel and emergency room patients are being admitted. Please no visitors until further notice.
