Vote while in the Military or Abroad

Active military (and dependents) serving outside of Utah, as well as American citizens living outside the U.S. who maintain a legal residency in Grand County are eligible to vote in Grand County. Military and overseas voters have the option to receive a ballot via mail or email using the Federal Post Card Application. You may also vote using a federal write-in absentee ballot (FWAB).

Federal Post Card Application (FPCA)

To register to vote and request a ballot, please visit fvap.gov, or fill out and submit this ballot request form, otherwise known as the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). All requests submitted through fvap.gov must be made no later than the Thursday before Election Day for timely receipt by the Grand County Clerk's Office. Requests may be emailed to the Grand County Clerk's Office up until the day before Election Day. To submit the FPCA directly to Grand County (preferred), you can email the form to elections@grandcountyutah.gov, or mail to:

Backup Option: Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB)

If you do not receive your ballot in time, you may submit the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot. 

How to Cast a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB)

  1. Obtain the blank FWAB (Form SF186) from www.fvap.gov or any U.S. embassy or consulate.
  2. Complete the FWAB “Voter Information” page completely and accurately. Sign and date.
  3. On the FWAB Office/Ballot Measure grid, write the office titles exactly as shown on vote.utah.gov and then write the candidate’s name of your choice.
    1. Visit vote.utah.gov for candidate information.
  4. If a ballot proposition is added, write its number (e.g., “Proposition1”) and then write “FOR” or “AGAINST.”
    1. Optional: You may add any federal, state, or county offices that appear on your Utah ballot on the “Addendum” area following the same format. 
  5. Sign the voter declaration.
  6. Return the FWAB to the Grand County Clerk/Auditor’s Office before 8pm MT on Election Day by mail or email:
